According the the Associated Press, we had a cooler than average summer. It is 68F here right now… finally feels like Fall is around the corner.

Here are some statistics from http://www.nws.noaa.gov/

“National Weather Service records show that for the meteorological summer – the months of June, July and August – Nashville got more than an inch and a half more rain than usual.

The average temperature for Nashville was cooler by one-half of one degree. While July was notably cool and August was also cooler than usual, a warm June bumped up the seasonal average.

Nashville recorded only 28 days during which high temperatures reached 90 degrees or above during the summer. The usual number is 43.

Rainfall totaled 12.70 inches during the three months – 1.57 inches above normal. June and July had more rain than usual, while August was drier.”

Pretty cool…

Green Hills is an upscale shopper’s delight in Nashville. This historic neighborhood features expansive ranch style dwellings, spacious single family homes, lovely English country design houses, town homes, and condominiums. Green Hills offers spectacular amenities such as high ranking schools, a reputable university (Lipscomb University), a magnificent, high-end shopping mall (The Mall at Green Hills), a village- style shopping complex (Hill Center), a fantastic antique mall, and an exceptional library. Nashville is graced with a strong economy and provides career opportunities with high tech industries, retail businesses, banking firms, transportation companies, and manufacturing industries.

Green Hills is a relatively affluent neighborhood in Nashville. Though there were some plans to incorporate Green Hills into a town in the 1950′s, this was never completed. Green Hills is located south of downtown Nashville on Hillsboro Road (U.S. Highway 431). Home to The Mall at Green Hills, a high-end enclosed shopping center, and Hill Center, a village-style shopping center, Green Hills is Nashville’s shopping destination.

Hillsboro High School, located directly across the highway from the Mall, actually predates much of the neighborhood, which began on a small scale in the 1930s but was not highly populated until after World War II. Another public educational institution is Julia Green Elementary School, a primary school. A major private educational institution is Lipscomb University and its associated elementary and high schools. Another is Harpeth Hall School, a prestigious girls’ high school.
